Obscure Glass
Combining practicality with visual appeal, obscure glass diffuses natural light while reducing visibility. It’s an ideal solution for spaces where privacy is important but brightness and style still matter.
At Barnsley Glass & Glazing, we supply and install a wide range of obscure glass options, helping you achieve the right balance between privacy, light, and design.
Privacy and Style for Any Space

We provide multiple levels of obscurity, allowing you to choose exactly how much privacy you need — from lightly textured decorative glass to maximum privacy solutions.

Levels of Privacy
Our obscure glass is available in five privacy levels, allowing you to select the right degree of obscurity for your application:
Level 1 – Minimal Privacy
Offers a decorative effect with the highest visibility. Best suited for internal partitions or feature panels.
Level 2 – Light Privacy
Slightly more opaque while still allowing clear light transmission. Ideal for door panels where some visibility is acceptable.
Level 3 – Medium Privacy
A balanced option commonly used in bathrooms, offices, and internal glazing.
Level 4 – High Privacy
Provides strong screening and is frequently chosen for bathrooms, shower enclosures, and ground-floor windows.
Level 5 – Maximum Privacy
The highest level of obscurity, making it extremely difficult to see through. Perfect for bathrooms, consultation rooms, and areas where full privacy is essential.
Obscure Glass Options & Customisation
We offer a wide selection of textured, patterned, and frosted obscure glass styles. Many options are available in 4mm, 6mm, toughened, or laminated glass for added strength, safety, and security.
For a smooth satin finish, we also provide sandblasted glass. Some patterns are multi-directional, meaning they look consistent whichever way they’re installed, while others are directional and require precise alignment. If your project involves multiple panes, we’ll ensure every piece is cut and matched correctly for a uniform finish.
Some of our glass patterns are multi directional, meaning the pattern looks the same no matter which way it is placed. Others are directional, where the pattern must be aligned correctly for a consistent appearance across multiple panes. If you’re working on a project requiring patterned glass in different orientations, let us know, and we’ll ensure all pieces are cut to match.
